The Ghost Who Didn't Die

My comic explores the intersection of violence and kindness and is set in a noir cityscape
reminiscent of pulp novels of the 40’s. This comic follows Kailey, a down-on-her-luck orphan girl, as she attempts to outrun a group of gang members after she sees something she never intended to. I use a primarily monochromatic palette to emphasize the danger and mystery of the city streets, which heightens the arrival of the red-scarved vigilante, Ace.

I make art as a means to portray various themes, including connection to others, the ways love manifests, mental health, and the search for fulfillment. My pieces strive to tap into these themes through settings, characters, and colors. The setting of my comic is dark and unwelcoming, but once Ace and, by extension, color, are introduced, the darkness loosens its hold on the story and allows for something new.
